Migraine Headache
You feel it coming, that severe pounding headache on the right side. Your eyes hurt, your face is numb. Every little noise feels like your head will explode. The light is throwing a thousand little daggers into your eyes. You know what will come next. Soon the pounding will spread to the left and you will be left merciless. Or, perhaps, you get out of bed and suddenly the room spins and your stomach is queasy. Every move makes you want to vomit. Unfortunately, you may be having a migraine.
Those who have ever suffered a migraine know how disabling and disruptive an attack can be. Although many triggers have been identified and possible mechanisms by which migraines occur have been elucidated, it is still incompletely understood. Many sufferers have found ways to cope with migraines, but advances in migraine research has led to discoveries of therapeutic agents to treat and prevent migraines.
